I was tagged for this by the lovely Leslie and if you haven’t already, you should definitely check out her blog BOOKS ARE THE NEW BLACK. Thank you so much for the tag 💖
Let’s begin!
Three Read Once and Loved Authors
Now this is a difficult one for me, because usually if I really LOVE an author, I’ll read more than one of their books and even some books more than once. So I’ll be going with three authors I’ve recently discovered, and love.
Windcatcher by A.J. Norfield – I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would, and thanks to the amazing dragon Galirras I’ll have to come back and read the rest of the Stone War Chronicles at some point.
Sweatpants at Tiffanie’s by Pernille Hughes – This debut novel by the author is a fun read, and if she had written more books, I would be all over them.
Blood’s Fury by C.M. Owens – I’ve read other books by this author, but this was the first I read by this pen name. And while it might not always make a huge difference, it certainly did in this case. Even though, the snark I’d gotten used to from Kristy Cunning was missed, I still loved this book and the rest of the series.
Three Titles I’ve Watched But Haven’t Read
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead – I watched the film earlier in the year, before I knew it was a book. But now that I know, I don’t think I’ll ever be reading it as I didn’t enjoy the film all that much.
The Awakening (The Vampire Diaries #1) by L.J. Smith – I started watching this series a few years ago, and at the time I didn’t know the TV series was based on a book series. However, I did actually enjoy the TV series a lot. I might read the first book eventually, I mean, never say never.
The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger – it’s only a few weeks ago that I found out, that the film is based on a book. I really enjoyed the film, and still watch it like once a year. Maybe this year I’ll read the book instead!
Three Characters You Love
Only three? Hmm….
♦ Percy Jackson from Percy Jackson and the Olympians & Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan – I’ve said it before, and I’m more than happy to repeat myself: this son of the sea god is one of my all time favourite narrators!
♦ Keyla/Pacca/I cannot say her real name, from The Dark Side by Kristy Cunning – this girl puts the umph in TRIUMPH, zing in OMG SHE’S AMAZING. I love her to bits and totally wish she was my BFF.
♦ Muse from Rock-Hard Beautiful by C.M. Stunich – this guy breaks my heart and makes me swoon pretty much every time he’s in focus, throughout this awesome trilogy.

Three Unpopular Bookish Opinions
I’ve been sitting here for half an hour now to think of something, and I really can’t come up with anything. I’ve shared opinions before that I thought would be unpopular, but turned out a lot of people agreed with me…
♦ I don’t have a problem with dog earing my books. Yes, I agree bookmarks keeps the books prettier for longer, but that aside I’m guilty of doing this. I should probably clarify that I never do it to someone else’s books, but I do it to my own, and I’ve come to terms with this.
♦ I can’t get into audio books! I’ve tried so many times and I guess it is handy when I’m cleaning the house, or soaking in my bathtub. But I don’t feel like I connect with the book the same way, if I’m not reading it myself. So far it’s turned out okay for books I’ve already read, but for new books it’s a total no go for me.
♦ I loved the Twilight books! I agree the writing wasn’t like totally mind blowing, and I’m still scratching my head and wondering why the vampires sparkle. But that aside, I really enjoyed the books, and I’ve re-read them more times than I can count.
Three Goals for the Year
Hmm… I always try not to set goals, because it usually makes me stressed and disappointed if I don’t make it. So for the sake of not putting myself through that, I try to just go with the flow. But these are some of my unofficial goals:
♦ Always have the next 5 days blog posts sorted before a new week begins. This is mostly so I know I don’t have to stress in the evenings if I’m working overtime, and so that I can still meet up with friends etc without feeling guilty.
♦ Try to branch out, and read at least 1 non-romantic book each month. This one is a bit harder, because it depends what I receive of arc and beta reads. But I usually enjoy it, when I do it.
♦ Get better at DNF’ing a book! Time is too precious to read books I don’t enjoy, or even want to read. However, I have issues with DNF as I still want to know what happens. So, I’d like to get better at just being able to stop, and move on to something I know I’d enjoy.
I TAG:
I’ve chosen to tag some of my newest followers, who I’d love to get to know better 🙂 as always, there’s no pressure to do this tag. But if you do, please link back to me so I can see your answers.

I thinl I DNF’d TVD books when season 2 or 3 was on TV. The books are so, so different and I stopped liking the Salvatore and Elena, so I saw no point reading them. I might give another chance to them now that the show is over and can’t influence my reading experience.
I have some problems with Twilight books but I still enjoy reading them.

I never actually read TVD and I had a hard enough time, stomaching Elena in the show. So I don’t think I ever will. Lol. But never say never 🙂

Elena is very different. In the show Elena is the “nice” one and Katherine is the b*tch but in the books Katherine was the nice one and Stefan liked Elena because she wasn’t. I love TV Katherine and hate TV Elena tbh.

Yeah I’ve heard that before. I love Katherine too. She’s one unapologetic ruthless character. It’s hard not to love her 🙂

So many good characters start with K: Katherine, Klaus, Kai, Kol 😀

Yesss! Can’t help but love them all. There’s some thing about the K characters in that series 😂

This is such a lovely tag! Will definitely do this some time. Also, I think you’re brave to dog-ear your books. I highlight some of my books and I could say that not all agrees to that!

I will be looking forward to reading your answers, Merv 🙂 haha that’s me, living on the edge lol 😂 true, book liking is so individual. Which I guess is why there’s always something to talk about 🙂

Agree about audiobooks. I can’t concentrate on them. Sometimes I listen to a half hour radio drama but my attention just drifts. I used to listen to a lot of audiobooks when I was little, to help me sleep – this was fine, but it was always books I was familiar with anyway so it didn’t matter if I missed out.

I did the same when I was younger, it was a great way to drift off 🙂 but it definitely needs to be something I’m already familiar with 🙂

I used to listen to the Harry Potters as audiobook, and also The Demon Headmaster. I had one of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast too.

Are the Harry Potter books good on audio? I’ve thought of buying them, since I’ve already read the books numerous times.

I remember them as being good, but then it was years and years ago! And maybe they get re-recorded with new narrators every so often? I don’t know. But I suppose they would be the ones to start with as they’re comforting because of being familiar!

That’s not a bad idea at all. Thanks 🙂

Yay thank you so much for the tag!! This one looks like a lot of fun but knowing myself I might take awhile before I get to it haha 😂 I had no idea that Devil Wears Prada is based on a book!

Haha it’s no rush, I’ll patiently await your answers 😀 And I was surprised about the Devil Wears Prada, too. Now I just have to read the book 🙂

Great answers! I had such a had time with the unpopular opinions part too. Oh no! I really hated The Vampire Academy movie, it was SOOOO bad. Probably one of the worst adaptations! The books are much better. I also have so much trouble DNF-ing a book. It just feels like it’s leaving something incomplete! I am trying to be better. Good luck with that one! 🙂

I agree that the VA wasn’t in the epic league of films or anything. But without anything to compare to, it wasn’t all that bad. But yeah I bet the book is so much better, they always are lol. OMG yes, the DNF’ing is so hard. I just can’t stand not knowing.

Yeah, if I wouldn’t have read the series first, I might have liked it more. Yeah, DNF is the worst. I see so many people do it with ease. I’m jealous! haha. I usually have to give it a good 100-150 pages before I can DNF. Then… I’m like.. I’ve read this much! haha.

Haha I’m just so bad at it! And when I’m that far, I feel like I should stick it out 😂

I can’t get into audiobooks either, I hate that if I don’t concentrate for just a minute I feel I’ve missed something important

Absolutely! It just makes it so hard for me, to listen to some thing I haven’t read. If I’ve already read it, it’s fine.

Great post, Bibi! I am with you on the DNFing books, I also find it difficult to give up a book I’ve already started because I almost feel obliged to read it after that author put so much love and care into writing it. Thank you for tagging me! I’ll have to think about some of my answers but this tag looks fun and I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts 🙂

It’s a lot harder than people think. Though, sometimes I wish I was better at it. I can’t wait to see your answers 🤩

Oh, good luck with the dnf goal. It’s a game changer! 😀
I don’t dog ear my books, but have no issue if someone does it. When my friend dog eared my book tho, i died a bit on the inside, but i guess i got over it. Hehe 😂

Haha oh I wouldn’t dare dog earing someone else’s book. And even though I do it myself, I would be upset if someone did it to mine 😂 lol and thank you, I do need luck to master the subtle art of DNF’ing a book 😂😂
