A - Z survey

I was once again tagged for some fun, by the amazing Sara. I’m running out of ways to mention her, but trust me, she’s one of the best! And if you haven’t already checked out her blog, you’re loosing out.

LET’S DO THIS!

AUTHOR YOU’VE READ THE MOST BOOKS FROM:

I think that would be Rick Riordan (hello, Percy Jackson & Apollo), Lisa/L.J. Swallow (yep, one and same person. Lisa is all about sweet normal romance. Whereas L.J is her paranormal books).

BEST SEQUEL EVER

Roadie

I hate questions like this, because I’m in the luxury position where I have too many to choose from. From books I’ve discovered this year, I think I’ll have to go with Roadie (Rock-Hard Beautiful #2). Because this second book in the trilogy, was when I really fell in love with Lilith.

DRINK OF CHOICE WHILE READING:

I don’t have a specific “now I’m reading” drink. But I usually drink coffee, water, juice or coca cola.

E-READER OR PHYSICAL BOOK:

I feel like I’ve answered this question so many times now. But I prefer physical books at home. When out and about, travelling or whatever, I prefer Ebooks. They’re easier to drag around!

FICTIONAL CHARACTER YOU PROBABLY WOULD HAVE ACTUALLY DATED IN HIGH SCHOOL:

Why in high school? There’s so many swoon worthy adult characters… Hell I don’t know. Any bad boy or musician or bad-boy-musician would have made me drool back then.

GLAD YOU GAVE THIS BOOK A CHANCE:

This is a weird one. But I almost didn’t read Four Psychos because I didn’t like the cover Three Trialsof the second book, Three Trials. But as the saying goes: never judge a book by its cover. That’s a lesson I’ve learned over and over in 2018!

HIDDEN GEM BOOK:

I don’t really know… there’s been a few I didn’t have high expectations for, which have turned out to be amazing. Their Vampire Queen by Joely Sue Burkhart is definitely one of them!

Song of Achilles

But I think the biggest hidden gem was The Song of Achilles. I didn’t know about this book, when some of my previous colleagues bought it for me for my birthday. They told me it could be returned if I didn’t like it, because the sales woman had said a lot of people had complained about the book. With that in mind I started reading the book with zero expectations. To this day I can’t understand why anyone would complain about this book! It’s one of the best stories I’ve ever read.

IMPORTANT MOMENT IN YOUR READING LIFE:

May the 7th of this year, when I started my blog. Through my blog I’ve come across some truly amazing, inspirational and just awesome people. And now I get to gosh about books even more, what’s not to love?

JUST FINISHED:

02 - Poison's Kiss

I just finished the second book in C.M. Owens Deadly Beauties series and, I’m still hooked. No idea why, but I LOVE it!

KINDS OF BOOKS YOU WON’T READ:

If someone had asked me that a few months ago, I would have said Dark Romance. But after reading Bianca Sommerland’s Deadly Captive trilogy – and kind of liking it, I don’t know. I guess I’ll give most books at least a chance.

MAJOR BOOK HANGOVER BECAUSE OF:

There’s been a few, just this year alone!

Rock-Hard Beautiful by C.M. Stunich

This series left me in a major book slump. I kept looking for a book that would make me feel like this series did, but I still haven’t found any. Quite possibly because C.M. Stunich takes you through any imaginable feeling and, shows you the good, the bad and the horrible.

Their Vampire Queen by Joely Sue Burkhart

This series is also unlike anything I’ve read before. When I started the series, only the first two books had been released, which I didn’t know. I devoured both books within 24 hours, and then nothing. I read so many adult vampire books, hoping to find something similar. But this universe Joely has created is so completely different, which keeps me wanting more.

The Dark Side by Kristy Cunning

I think this series takes the price for the biggest and longest book hangover I’ve been through. All of the books mentioned here are amazing, but this one is truly something special. However, the hangover was caused by

  1. I didn’t know the series wasn’t completed, when I started it.
  2. In the end of THREE TRIALS there’s an author note saying, that the next book will be out soon and that she already finished writing it.

Then radio silence for months, no news or anything from the author. All of a sudden C.M. Owens announced that the next book would be postponed, because she struggled finishing another book, which she wanted to release first. In the end TWO KINGDOMS wasn’t released until six months after the previous book, which is a long time to wait for a book that’s supposedly already finished.

NUMBER OF BOOKCASES YOU OWN:

None! I’m waiting for one huge book case (one of those that goes from the floor to the ceiling) to be delivered, but apparently the store is waiting to get it back in stock.

ONE BOOK YOU HAVE READ MULTIPLE TIMES:

Ive re-re-re-re read the three series I mentioned under “M” so many times I lost count.

PREFERRED PLACE TO READ:

I love when I can read outside on my sun lounger. Otherwise, I actually prefer my sofa or bed.

QUOTE THAT INSPIRES YOU/GIVES YOU ALL THE FEELS FROM A BOOK YOU’VE READ:

“Name one hero who was happy.”
I considered. Heracles went mad and killed his family; Theseus lost his bride and father; Jason’s children and new wife were murdered by his old; Bellerophon killed the Chimera but was crippled by the fall from Pegasus’ back.
“You can’t.” He was sitting up now, leaning forward.
“I can’t.”
“I know. They never let you be famous AND happy.” He lifted an eyebrow. “I’ll tell you a secret.”
“Tell me.” I loved it when he was like this.
“I’m going to be the first.” He took my palm and held it to his. “Swear it.”
“Why me?”
“Because you’re the reason. Swear it.”
“I swear it,” I said, lost in the high color of his cheeks, the flame in his eyes.
“I swear it,” he echoed.
We sat like that a moment, hands touching. He grinned.
“I feel like I could eat the world raw.”
― The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

READING REGRET:

Creature of Habit by Angel Lawson

A friendly warning: This is pretty much Twilight for adults and the bonus book A Vampire’s Seduction is stuffed. The story is only 18% of the book, the rest if a different story.

Dia McLearey by J. B. Miller

Just an overall waste of time.

SERIES YOU STARTED AND NEED TO FINISH (ALL BOOKS ARE OUT IN SERIES):

Blood Prophecy by Lili Zander & Rory Reynolds

I’ve read the first four books in the series, but I really didn’t like them. The fifth book was released later on, but I’ve only made it through the first chapter. Maybe I’ll finish one day, if nothing else, just to find out how it all ends.

THREE OF YOUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE BOOKS:

I feel like I’m just listing the same books over and over again, so I’ll try and go with some different ones. Might not be amongst my top three, but it’s definitely on my top ten.

  • Divine Ambrosia: Such a sweet and clever story, about the Greek gods in modern time. While Vivienne has stayed somewhat true to the old legends, I love her unique take on their personalities.
  • Reckoning: the epic finale and grand showdown between Chaos and Order in L.J. Swallows The Four Horsemen Reverse Harem series.
  • Magic Waking: Eva Chase has an unique and awesome take on Arthurian legends.

UNAPOLOGETIC FANGIRL FOR:

Seriously, I cannot get enough of the leading lady! I know I’ve showed this quote before, and it’s also in my Four Psychos review, but I don’t get why some people don’t like Paca:

My epiphany has been that none of you deserve me. You can look. You can fantasize. Like I’ve had to. Try to bring home a woman, and I’ll make farting noises while wearing a dolphin costume and acting like I’m humping each of you. See how long you can hold an erection then.”

VERY EXCITED FOR THIS RELEASE MORE THAN ALL THE OTHERS:

One Apocalypse – the fourth and final book in the The Dark Side series.

WORST BOOKISH HABIT:

My worst bookish habit is that I tend to donkey ear my physical books, which is stupid because I hate when people do that to my books. Hell, I don’t even like that I do it to my books. But often if I’m reading and think “oh I need to remember this for my review” I do it without thinking. Really bad habit!

MARKS THE SPOT: START AT THE TOP LEFT OF YOUR SHELF AND PICK THE 27TH BOOK:

Private Prick

I still don’t have any shelves and my books are safely stored  under my bed. But on my Kindle shelf it’s

YOUR LATEST BOOK PURCHASE:

02 - Poison's Kiss That would be Poison’s Kiss, the second book in the Deadly Beauties series.

ZZZ-SNATCHER BOOK (LAST BOOK THAT KEPT YOU UP WAY LATE):

The abovemenioned Poison’s Kiss kept me up till the wrong site of 2am. I just had to know what happened. You know, just one more page…..

That’s a wrap!
