My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤ of 5!
Ladies and Gents, I am in love! Once I started on this hot masterpiece I had a really hard time putting it down (just ask my grumpy BF who begged me to stop reading at 3am). But seriously, what’s a poor book addict to do when Eva Chase lures you in, and keep her talons wrapped around you through her books *sigh*
Serenity, or Ren, is out to celebrate her 21st birthday, but after 1 extra Bloody Mary she ends up being kidnapped. She wakes up the next day and learns that not only was she never actually meant to be kidnapped (an employee decided to take matters into his own hands, be careful with taking initiative in the workplace) – she also learns about the paranormal community which includes shapeshifters. Oh, and by the way, she’s supposedly the last dragon shifter. Ren meets the hot alphas of the four shifter groups:
Aaron: Avian kin
Marco: Feline kin
West: Canine kin
Nate: Disparate kin
Ren learns that it’s her duty to mate with them and thus, unite the shifter communities. However, there’s just the small problem consisting of the fact that Ren has never shifted and has no idea how to activate her powers. Before Ren’s mother disappeared, she did something to try and keep Ren safe, which presumably made her powers dormant. Whilst Ren and her mates try to re-activate her powers they also learn, that there are rogues out for her blood.
If you’ve read any of my reviews before you’ll quickly learn that my main pet peeve is a whiny, needy, no-responsibility taking-damsel-in-distress FMC. Well I bloody LOVE that Ren isn’t like that. She listens, she learns and if anything, she’s harder on herself than she ought to be, because she understands the bigger picture. She tastes, takes and carries the responsibility of her new-found role like a pro!
Lots of drama, danger, hot guys, passion and action, which is exactly what the doctor ordered (or well, exactly what I think mine should give me never ending prescriptions of).
I love how Eva Chase has managed to somewhat integrate the overwhelming gap between human nature, and shifter nature. Though, Ren does have a hard time coming around to the fact, that she’s supposed to mate with all four men. Even though, she understands the need to unite the four shifter communities. However, it helps that her crazily awesome friend doesn’t judge, but only encourages this.
Well written and the sex scenes were tastefully written and appropriate to the story.
Have you read the book? Thinking about it? Comment and let me know.
